Breastfeeding Support
Breastfeeding shouldn't be toe-curlingly painful. It's a dance between you and your baby, and you're both still learning the steps.
✦ Pain with breastfeeding
✦ Not sure you have enough milk
✦ Need help with pumping
✦ Baby refusing the breast
✦ Cracked or sore nipples
What People Are Saying
"Anna was very patient in listening to me talk about the feeding issues my baby and I were facing and the kind of support I was expecting and I received exactly that from her. She very promptly discussed all the issues in detail, providing info about why certain things may be happening and made me feel assured that they could be fixed. I received a lot of suggestions and learnt a few new techniques to fix the issues. I felt very positive after her visit. Definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a lactation consultant.."

What a Visit Looks Like
I listen first. Your birth story, how things have been going, what’s worrying you.
I observe a feed. Watching how you and baby are together, without intervening.
We talk through it together. Explore positions, feeding styles, create a plan.
I follow baby’s lead. If they need to feed right away, we feed. If they're sleeping, we talk.
I follow up. Videos, articles, and a summary of what we worked on together in your inbox after the visit.

Breastfeeding Support FAQs
-
Sooner than you think. You don't need to wait until things are really bad. If something doesn't feel right, such as pain, uncertainty, a baby who seems unsettled after feeds, then that's enough reason to reach out. The earlier we can look at what's happening, the easier it usually is to sort out.
-
Every visit starts with a conversation: your birth story, how feeding has been going, what's worrying you. Then I observe a feed, check what's going on with both you and your baby, and we troubleshoot and try out solutions together. You'll leave with some different things to try, and I'll follow up with an email summary and any relevant videos or articles to support what we worked on.
-
Yes, low milk supply is one of the most common reasons families reach out. The first thing I do is figure out whether supply is actually low, or whether it feels that way because of how feeding is going. Sometimes what looks like a supply issue is actually a latch or positioning issue. Once we understand what's actually happening, we can make a plan together.
-
Absolutely! And I'd encourage it. Partners often have questions too, and understanding what's going on makes it much easier to be genuinely helpful at home. Having someone else in the room who knows what to watch for can make a real difference in those early weeks.
Postpartum Doula Support
Feeling overwhelmed? Let me wrap you in support so you can focus on recovering from birth, bonding with your baby, and finding your own new rhythm.
Your time with your kraamzorg nurse has ended, but you don’t feel like you’ve figured it out yet and you need some extra support. As your postpartum doula, I bring both a clinical nursing background and a deep respect for traditional postpartum practices to support you during these early weeks. I am that extra set of hands and reassurance as you figure out this whole parenting thing.

What People Are Saying
“Being an expat in Eindhoven with no family support, having Anna Latham by my side in the early postpartum days was a true blessing. She prepared very nutritious meals that helped me recover well, supported me through my breastfeeding journey with so much patience, and gave me the care and confidence I needed as a new mom. I’m so grateful for her help and would highly recommend her to any new parent.”

What Postpartum Support Actually Looks Like
A typical postpartum visit
Before I Arrive
I start cooking nourishing meals with your specific needs and preferences in mind.
On Arrival
I unpack the food I've made and, if the family hasn't come downstairs yet, tidy the kitchen quietly while I wait.
Connecting First
Tea, a snack, and a real check-in with mum or dad. How was the night? How's feeding going? How is she recovering?
Making a Loose Plan
Together we sketch out the visit: breastfeeding support, a bit of housework, maybe a sitz bath, massage, or belly binding if there's time.
Following What the Day Needs
Sometimes the plan holds. Sometimes I just sit with her while she feeds the baby, talking through what's typical for this stage.
Before I Leave
I make sure the family feels settled, and sometimes that means staying a little longer.

Postpartum Doula FAQs
-
Kraamzorg provides medical postpartum care for the first week after birth, including health checks for mother and baby. A postpartum doula offers non-medical support focused on helping parents adjust to life with a newborn, often continuing support after kraamzorg has finished.
-
Postpartum doula care may include:
guidance with newborn care and feeding
breastfeeding support
emotional support for parents
light household help
preparing simple nourishing meals
helping you rest while someone experienced cares for your baby
The goal is to help your family feel confident and supported during the fourth trimester.
-
Every family is different. Some families book support for a few sessions after kraamzorg ends, while others choose weekly visits for several weeks or months to ease the transition into parenthood.
-
Postpartum doula support is usually considered non-medical care and is not covered by basic health insurance. Some supplementary insurance plans may reimburse part of the cost, so it’s worth checking with your provider.
